York Furnace Repair: DGAA and DGAH Model Checks

If you smell gas or a CO alarm sounds, leave the home and call the gas utility or 911 from outside.

For York DGAA or DGAH furnace repair, contact an independent heating contractor with the full model and repeating light pattern. The manufacturer’s DGAA/DGAH manual covers single-stage downflow equipment and separates ignition failure from pressure-switch conditions. Preserve the observed heating sequence so the contractor can apply that legacy model’s own diagnostic guidance.

Residential downflow furnace in a manufactured-home utility closet

DGAA and DGAH have a defined downflow equipment scope

This page uses the manufacturer’s DGAA/DGAH user, maintenance and service manual, publication 5165697-BUM-C-0818. The document identifies single-stage downflow equipment and the installation settings quoted below. Its contact information directs readers to York’s own website. It is a legacy model reference, not a current York catalog or a universal furnace-code table.

Give the contractor the complete model and suffix from an accessible label or existing equipment record. A different York furnace needs its own applicable publication before a code or component example is used.

According to York DGAA/DGAH user manual (5165697-BUM-C-0818):

The DGAA/DGAH description identifies the vent blower

The manufacturer’s product-description page names an induced-draft vent blower and an atmospheric burner. Keep the beginning of the heat attempt separate from the later circulating-air response when describing the complaint.

The diagnostic discussion also says the pressure-switch contacts are checked at the beginning of a heat cycle. Leave cabinet access and pressure or electrical tests to the contractor; record only the operating sequence already visible to you.

The York DGAA/DGAH user manual (5165697-BUM-C-0818) also explains:

The furnace is equipped with an induced-draft vent blower and atmospheric burner.

The control confirms these contacts are open at the beginning of each heat cycle.

One flash and three flashes identify different diagnostic entries

The DGAA/DGAH manual lists ignition failure under one flash and a pressure switch that failed to close under three flashes. Its three-flash discussion names an inducer, vent pipe, pressure-switch hose and switch as possible causes. Preserve the repeat count and pauses; that list does not establish which part has failed.

Give the contractor whether the furnace attempts to ignite, whether flame appears and when heat stops. Do not bypass a switch or repeatedly reset the control to hide the original fault record.

The York DGAA/DGAH user manual (5165697-BUM-C-0818) gives this further guidance (excerpt 3):

1 FLASH: Ignition failure.

3 FLASH: Combustion air pressure switch failed to close

This could be caused by a number of problems; faulty inducer, blocked vent pipe, broken pressure switch hose or faulty pressure switch.

Use the model-specific warranty page with the installation record

The same manufacturer document includes its own DGAA/DGAH Limited Warranty page. The heat-exchanger clause quoted below is on a parts-only basis, and the document also states conditions for the warranty to apply.

Bring the original installation and purchase records and ask the contractor to match the actual certificate to the installed furnace. These excerpts do not establish current coverage or promise that a diagnostic visit, repair labor or replacement is covered.

The York DGAA/DGAH user manual (5165697-BUM-C-0818) gives this further guidance (excerpt 4):

The heat exchanger warranty is on a parts only basis: no labor, freight or other service charges are allowed.

For this warranty to apply, the product must be installed according to Company recommendations and specifications, and in accordance with all local, state, and national codes; and the product or residence must not be removed from its place of original installation.

What to tell the contractor

Give the full DGAA/DGAH model and suffix, repeating flash count and pauses, whether ignition begins or flame appears, when heat stops, installation records and earlier inducer, vent or pressure-switch service.
